wow wow wow another fantastic weigh in tonight...... another 8lb, yes 8lb lost in one week. This bring my weight loss to date to 3 stone 9lbs in 6 weeks (51lbs or 23.2kg) how amazing is that on week 6 to still be losing that sort of weight. I am so pleased with myself.
I now weigh 21stone 13lbs, which in 6 weeks from 25stone 8lbs is bloody fantastic.
I had a bit of a hunger attack today when I saw all the office "bun run" cakes, it was a bit like old habits die hard. I walked past them and felt myself nearly dive in, I wasn't hungry, they were just there for anyone to eat and I would have consumed several in the past. I did not succumb to the temptation as nice as they looked.
We also have a really nice sandwich delivery van come around at work, a gourmet delicacy shop makes sandwiches and sends them around the office estate in a van, this is usually fine, I usually ignore the "sandwich man is here" calls in the office. Today was different, I had been out of the office to a site meeting, as I arrived back the van was there with all his wares on display, I am sure I could smell the really fresh granary bread, then again it was probably my mind playing tricks.(Mental note to self: must remember the thick layer of mayonnaise on its own adds over 100 calories) I hurried into the office and consumed a banana tetra ready made shake. I also consumed copious amount of water approx 10 pints again today.
This evening my CDC (Cambridge Diet Counsellor) was pleased to see both my wife and I, she commented on how much she could notice a difference in us both. My wife also had comments whilst waiting at the school today about how she looked slimmer (the lady who commented was a little dubious in case she had got it wrong!)
Incidentally my wife lost 4lb this week, she is happy with that as she is still on target for the 1 stone a month target.

Wednesday Week 6
Today I have realised that the whole nation seems obsessed with weight be it too big or too small, every day the papers and magazines are full of it. Last night I watched a programme on ITV3 about a lady deliberately trying to slim from a UK 10 to US size zero (UK 4) this lady went through hell trying to slim down in 8 weeks, then tonight there is another programme on with Louise Redknapp trying to do the same thing. My NTL homepage has a story about a lady who lives just a few miles up the road from me in Chelmsford and currently weighs 42 stone. She must lose at least 12 stone before the NHS will allow her to have a gastric band fitted. Someone tell her about the Cambridge Diet.
Everywhere you look there is a story of sorts relating to weight.. we are either obsessed by it as a nation or it is the fault of the media whipping up a frenzy. Is it really news??
This evening I have been to watch an inter office football match (which our office won 14 - 5) the social Secretary has threatened to put me on the team in October when I have lost a load of this weight.! sport! Me??? spectating has always been my idea of fun.
Weigh in tomorrow night and I am eagerly awaiting this weeks results. I have drunk at least 8 pints of water so far today and will have at least another before bed.

Tuesday Week 6
Had another "feel good" day today, taken my "medicine" (shakes and bars) at periodic intervals not because I am hungry but because I must take the shakes for all the nutrition my body requires whilst losing my bulk. Its great not feeling hungry, however when the food is re-introduced it may be another story!
I have now had 10 pints of water today and still my mouth is like the bottom of a birdcage and smells worse than that! (I wish I could just chew some minty gum)
This evening I have been into the loft and pulled out all of my too small clothes, bags and bags of them ranging from 34" waist up to 50" waist, Large to 3XL tops (anything bigger is still in my wardrobe!) It was good fun sorting through them with my wife, we have placed them into piles of "wear now", "wear soon", "Wear in several months" and finally "wear one day, way in the future" I also threw out loads of things which would not have had any street cred now, they were not that old but I just don't think things like a bright yellow shirt will suit me anymore.
In my "wear now" pile I have a selection of 3xl tops & 50" waist items, not a bad drop from 56" waist and 5xl just 5 weeks ago. The sort out was long overdue, I have a wardrobe full of shirts and trousers that are just way too big now.
Mental note to self: 50" waist is still fat bastard and you cant buy them in town, Keep going!

Monday Week 6
Today I have drunk and drunk and drunk water, anymore and it will be coming out of my ears. I have started to fill a jug at work with water from one of those chilling machines in the office, this gets me a few comments like "are you really going to drink all that" I actually fill it twice in one day! Most people fill those little plastic cups that you get in a dispenser attached to the machine, not me, a great big jug that holds 4 - 5 pints !! fortunately the machine is plumbed in so I don't use up one of those big bottles like some machines have.
The kids dinner smelt nice tonight, My sense of smell is definitely heightened. I am not hungry but do fancy things sometimes, strange to explain unless you are doing this great diet.
I read an article in a Sunday magazine that said that March is the most common month to fall off a diet, New Years resolutions seem so far in the past, its still cold and dark in the evenings and the temptation can prove too much for some folk...... but not me, I have started to see the results achievable. Just look at some of the success stories available (see my links to the right of this page) There are fantastic results to be had if you stick at this diet and do not waiver.
I want to be one of those success stories and do not intend to cheat at all. My trousers and shirts are loose my belly is flatter and I feel great. I have been looking at the Alton Towers hotel, the one with a water park... I really want to go there, I love adrenaline rides, I just want to be slim enough to fit in the seats again. Maybe I could get Alton towers to award me a stay as a reward if I succeed at this mammoth loss? Wishful thinking!
I remain focused and strong, and with noticeable results achieved in such a short space of time I hope to stay that way throughout this one way adventure.

Sunday Week 5
Sunday, the last day of the fifth week of this amazing diet. I feel like I have come so far in such a short period of time. Just fitting into clothes that were previously too tight is an amazing feeling. Things in the bedroom department are also fantastic, probably a combination of mine and my wife's losses makes things much more enjoyable for us both!! ooh err.
Went for a walk along the seafront this morning with the kids, unfortunately we walked so far the little one was in no state for the return journey, even tried the bribery of a few amusements on the pier but not a chance. It then started to rain, so I with my eldest decided to have a very brisk walk back to the car (25min's almost jogging in the rain!) then drive down to collect the others. However the brisk walk probably done me some good, combined with salty sea air I felt good (I love that smell of fresh sea air)
Cooked the kids a nice roast dinner, peeling that crispy chicken skin off and discarding it was hard, I could have just munched my way through the whole thing, I had not drunk enough water this morning which didn't help with this craving. I settled for an oriental chili soup and a pint of water, it hit just the right spot, honest!
Whilst serving the kids dinner the wife and I done something previously unheard of in our house........... we threw away a roast potato, fresh, golden, glistening, straight out of the oven! The kids had enough on their plate, any more would have been just for the sake of it. At this point in the past the potato would have formed (part of)my aperitif, whilst stood at the worktop dishing up. Not anymore, we are becoming stricter and more health / nutrition aware (It was hard though!!)
I have now caught up on the water and have had my daily allowance of soup, bars and shakes. Bring on week 6.

Saturday Week 5
I did not post anything yesterday (Friday), however it was a good day. I had a different colleague say to me "have you lost weight?" I like it when people start to notice, it helps my motivation and makes me feel good.
I had a task to carry out on Friday, a colleague of mine had a days leave, but...... and this is a big BUT, it was her turn to buy the cakes for the office bun run, She had left me in charge of her money with instructions to buy all the cakes!! I headed off to Sainsburys and toured each aisle in the bakery section. It is customary to buy a good selection of cakes (healthy options would go down like a lead balloon). I filled the basket with loads of delicacies, fresh cream cakes, doughnuts, flapjacks, chocolate brownies & hot cross buns. I took the brimming basket to the checkout where the lady asked "is it your Birthday?" No, and I proceeded to explain our bun run club. I didn't tell her about my abstinence from the food as she would probably have thought I was mad. I think this could have been to much temptation for some, not for me though, I remained strong and determined (and not mad!).
Today I have done the food shopping (I do enjoy shopping even if I can't eat!) and taken my little one to a Birthday party. Other than that it has been a relaxing day apart from my skipping stint. My wife and I headed out to the patio ropes in hand and gave it another bash. I can now do 30 odd jumps without tangling my feet. I have to stop after 30 something as I am nearly keeled over dying ( I stop for a minute or so then start again). How un-fit am I!
Just thought I would mention my wife's weight loss this week as a couple of people have asked. She only lost 3lb this week, however it that time of the month when a lady gets fluid retention! She was a little disappointed, however she knows in her own mind that she has not cheated at all and hopefully next week will be a great improvement.

Thursday Week 5 Weigh Day
More good news this week, I have lost another 7lb this week making my total loss 3stone 1lb in 5 weeks!! how good is that. However this still makes me 22 1/2 stone, still very very FAT!!
I am now fully motivated for the week ahead (its been a doddle this week really)
I am now down to the weight I was before when I commenced on lighterlife (in 2001). On that plan I lost 9 stone in 5 months, however it does not take a mathematician to work out that once I stopped I piled on a massive 12 stone! Never Again, I will not be putting my body through trauma again! I will do maintenance this time and not return to my unhealthy eating habits
Drunk loads of water today and I am just sat here with my final meal of the day, a peanut bar, and very nice it is too.
